PEER SUPPORT AND WELL BEING

Peer support brings together people who share similar challenges, helping them feel understood, connected, and less alone. By exchanging real-life experiences, listening with empathy, and offering practical advice, peers provide meaningful emotional encouragement and guidance. This positive exchange often inspires individuals to support others in turn, gradually building a strong, caring community that nurtures resilience, confidence, and personal growth.

D-Treats

D-Treats are informal get-togethers that help community members stay connected and deepen their sense of belonging. In a relaxed and friendly environment, participants can talk about their journeys, share tips, and encourage one another. Whether it’s meeting over tea, spending time outdoors, or connecting online, these gatherings play an important role in building trust, friendship, and mutual support within the community.

Meethi Chah

Meethi Chah is inspired by research highlighting how peer support can improve both the physical and emotional health of people living with diabetes. When individuals meet others who truly understand their struggles, they feel motivated, hopeful, and better equipped to manage daily life. These monthly group sessions, held in various cities, bring peers together over a cup of tea to talk openly about living with diabetes, and many leave with renewed energy and the comfort of knowing they are not alone.

Online Community

Peer support main page:

We are committed to offering a warm, supportive space for people living with Type 1 diabetes and their caregivers across Pakistan. Peer support plays a vital role in diabetes care by providing inspiration, emotional reassurance, practical guidance, and a strong sense of belonging.

Connecting with others who share similar experiences can reduce feelings of isolation and encourage consistent treatment and positive daily habits. Through our online peer support platforms, community members can learn from one another, share real-life challenges, and celebrate progress together.

To help moderate these online spaces, we work with dedicated volunteers known as peer and community leaders, who receive regular training in effective and compassionate communication.

Online Community – Peer Support Platforms

Online Community

To extend our peer support online, we offer private Facebook and WhatsApp communities designed to encourage open, respectful conversations. These spaces give members a chance to ask questions, share daily challenges, and connect with others who understand life with diabetes.

Facebook closed groups:

Our Facebook community includes dedicated closed groups that provide a safe environment where members can talk about their experiences without fear of being judged. Those who prefer to keep their identity private can still benefit by learning from other peoples shared stories and posts.
