Meethi Chah
Meethi Zindagi brought the type 1 diabetes community together through an intimate, emotion-filled series of gatherings titled “Meethi Chah” – a renewed form of a heart-to-heart reunion for type 1 diabetes (T1D) community where all it takes is a cup of tea to feel seen and heard.
Hosted across Lahore, Islamabad, & Karachi, Meethi Chah created warm, & safe, space where people with type 1 diabetes and their caregivers could share, connect, open up, and feel understood without feeling judged and without explaining the challenges they go through because each of them is sailing through the same journey.
Lahore: A Long Overdue Reunion
Meethi Chah kicked off in Lahore on 15th February with vibrant energy and 50+ participants. The room was filled with joy of reunion, laughter, emotional stories, and the comforting clink of chai cups. Topics like burnout, emotional fatigue due to the absence of support group sessions and judgment were shared openly, free from hesitation. Everyone appreciated the long-overdue gathering which came back in a renewed, more meaningful way.
Islamabad: Warmth
In
The Capital
After a successful launch in Lahore, Meethi Chah reached Islamabad on 27th April. The capital’s T1D warriors showed up in full force. 40+ people attended the event. Addressing social stigmas, hard to talk about moments and sharing tips & tricks to manage diabetes made highlights.
Our Empowered Young Woman Breaking Barriers!
Among them was Esha Imran, a young woman with type 1 diabetes who has been associated with our “Promise Of Insulin” program for a long time. She recently got married and shared her story with quiet strength that moved the room. Despite the social backlash her husband, Nouman, faced for marrying someone with T1D, he refused to let stigma stand in their way. Their happiness became a beautiful reminder that diabetes doesn’t define your worth or your future.
Karachi:Until
We Meet Again
The final chapter of Meethi Chah unfolded in Karachi, the city of lights, on 3rd May. This gathering featured 40+ people. Over cups of chai, conversations flowed, and even first-timers felt an immediate sense of connection.
14-year-old Jennifer, diagnose in 2020, shared how scared she was at first but now handles her insulin & blood glucose with confidence. “I used to hide my diabetes,” she said, “but not anymore.” Her story is a testament of the transformation she has undergone after getting healthcare, emotional and educational support from Meethi Zindagi.
“Find Your Diabetes Twin” brought together many new friends followed by a meditation session that really added a pinch of mindfulness. All in all, Karachi is already waiting for the next event.
In all three cities, Meethi Chah reaffirmed something profound: when people with T1D come together healing happens. Through stories, laughter, and shared silence, the community found more than support, it found home. 140+ participants felt reconnected and rejuvenated through Meethi Chah. As we sip the last of this season’s chai, one thing’s for sure. We’ll keep showing up, one gathering, one story, one cup at a time.
